Honeywell Brings New Series Of Performance Turbos To South Africa

Availability of GTX Power announced at Top Gear Festival

Johannesburg, March 21, 2011 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) Turbo Technologies debuts the latest innovation in performance turbocharging at the Johannesburg Top Gear Festival with its Garrett® GTX series of aftermarket turbochargers. This new product line is now available through TurboDirect, the appointed performance distributor in the region.

The Garrett® GTX turbos incorporate an all-new 11-blade forged aluminium alloy compressor wheel capable of delivering 10-20 percent higher flow and boost pressure ratios than the world-standard Garrett® GT wheel of the same size and providing terrific performance. Each Garrett® GTX midframe turbo also includes a patented dual ball bearing cartridge for enhanced durability and reduced transient response.

Critically, the latest GTX turbos are interchangeable with their GT counterparts, permitting an easy upgrade for auto enthusiasts looking for more performance with minimal alteration to existing setups. The turbos can also be retrofitted – enabling the owners of non-turbo vehicles to benefit from OEM assured technology.

“The GTX line of turbos can increase performance anywhere from 35 to 1500hp for street, drag, drift and circuit applications,” said Ed Goodwin, director of Global Aftermarket at Honeywell Turbo Technologies. “Honeywell and Garrett are virtually synonymous with turbos as the original developers of turbocharging for the auto industry. We are delighted to be working in partnership with our performance distributor TurboDirect to make the latest advances in performance turbocharging available to racing teams, turbo specialists and car enthusiasts in South Africa.”

TurboDirect is an established leader in serving the needs of the fast growing and technologically demanding performance market in South Africa, offering its customers a combination of technical knowledge and hands-on support.
